EverTrue Increases Safety for Older Adults with AARP Community Challenge Grant

St. Louis, Missouri – EverTrue is excited to implement critical pedestrian safety improvements at EverTrue Hylton Point Apartments and its surrounding neighborhood thanks to a 2025 AARP Community Challenge Grant totaling more than $11,000.

With funding from Toyota Motor North America, the project will focus on the implementation of critical pedestrian safety improvements at EverTrue Hylton Point Apartments and in the surrounding neighborhood by installing speed bumps, painting crosswalks and hosting a Neighborhood Pedestrian Safety Event.

“The safety of our residents and their loved ones is a top priority,” said Chassity Kaiser, Community Manager at Hylton Point Apartments. “We are incredibly grateful to AARP for providing funding through their Livable Communities initiative that will provide a long-term solution not only for our residents, but for the surrounding neighborhood as well. We want to be a safe area for pedestrians of all ages!”

These efforts aim to reduce speeding and improve awareness of safe walking practices for pedestrians. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, older adults are at a significantly higher risk of dying from pedestrian accidents. This grant will address factors that increase this risk.

The installation of speed bumps, painting and the Neighborhood Pedestrian Safety Event at Hylton Point Apartments are scheduled for late 2025.

The AARP Community Challenge is a flagship grant program designed to fund quick-action projects that make communities more livable for people of all ages. It is a key component of AARP’s nationwide Livable Communities initiative, which supports the development of cities, towns, neighborhoods and rural areas that are safe, accessible and inclusive.
