Living Life to the Fullest at EverTrue Rose Hill House

For a viral TikTok star, Ellen “Marie” lives her life simply, focused on friends and trying new things as a resident of  EverTrue Rose Hill House in Kirkwood.

“I moved here when my house started to feel more like a burden than a comfort,” said Ellen of her decision to move to the EverTrue Affordable Housing community. After a 50-year marriage filled with love and travel, Ellen found herself widowed and wanting to return to her hometown of Kirkwood, Missouri.

A friend first introduced her to EverTrue Rose Hill House, which is located in Kirkwood. Fifteen years later, she says, “I enjoy it. I love it.” But what drew her in—and what has kept her there—is the sense of connection.

“The people are friendly, the environment is welcoming and everything I need is close by, from stores to my doctor’s office,” said Ellen “I love it here – I have independence and peace of mind.”

She has become a celebrity in her community after an unexpected moment with her sister was caught on a Ring camera, making her a viral sensation. Her exclamation of “Bobbie done fell!” was played on repeat and shared by millions, with a few television stations even reaching out to ask her what it felt like to be so famous. Her sister Bobbie is fine after the fall – in fact, they were all dancing that night – but Ellen’s fame became a fun thing her friends at EverTrue Rose Hill House joke about with her.

“I am a true people person. There are so many things going on here that I try to attend them all,” said Ellen. In addition to the monthly luncheons, activities and outings, she also participates in wellness programming to maintain her health.

She makes a point to stay engaged.  “Mornings I begin with gratitude, thanking God for another day and for the ability to live life on my own terms,” said Ellen. “I go where I want to go when I want to. I know I am living my life to the fullest.”
