Donna and Bob Nichols, residents of EverTrue Concordia Village in Springfield, IL, credit their active lifestyle as the secret to their recent successful six-day hiking trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado.

“We’ve always loved hiking and exploring the outdoors,” shares Donna.

Thanks to EverTrue Concordia Village’s exercise and wellness programs, they have had access to remain their fittest selves. Over the past eight years, they’ve participated in everything from weight circuits and boxing to ballroom dancing, drumming and water volleyball.

Donna and Bob had visited Rocky Mountain National Park in the past but felt they had only scratched the surface. Recently, they finally had the chance to live out Donna’s dream of fully exploring the park’s trails. Over the course of their six-day adventure, they completed eight hikes, soaking in breathtaking vistas and spotting majestic elk along the way.

“We noticed that Bob and I were in the oldest age bracket, and there weren’t many of us walking the trails,” Donna reflects. Their active routines have kept them strong, enabling them to do what they love.
In fact, Donna and Bob’s active lifestyle has paid off in other ways. Bob credits his 40-pound weight loss to biking and exercise classes, while both agree that staying active keeps them strong and living life to the fullest.

Their travels don’t stop with Rocky Mountain National Park. The couple has explored many natural wonders across the United States and visited friends and family along the way. Next on their list is a trip to New Orleans, with plenty of stops planned for the journey.

“When we had a house, we had to find someone to check the garden, mow the lawn, watch the house – so much worry. We knew we could travel more if we wanted to when we moved here, and we have!”
