EverTrue Laclede Groves – Following “Suit”

For Bridge-expert and EverTrue Laclede Groves resident Janet Rathgeber, the opener to her next chapter came after she “followed suit” from a few friends.

“I had visited [EverTrue Laclede Groves] a few times to play Bridge with friends and they always talked about how much they loved living here, but I wasn’t sure I was ready to leave my home,” said Janet, who has now been a resident of Independent Living for three years. “I attended an event to hear about the new building and signed up for a patio home, which had a waiting list, but I continued to visit and soon considered other options.”

In addition to bridge, Janet attendedEver Future Resident events on campus, regularly spoke to the team and residents about the different options and even secured a garden spot – an important passion she pursued at her St. Louis home.

“Before I even moved here, I was helping with the garden and continued to play bridge, I had so many friends and people here to welcome me when I finally moved, it was an easy decision,” she continued.

It’s that sense of community and support that Janet continues to share when anyone asks about her home at EverTrue Laclede Groves.

“I love that I am here in the building with others, and that everyone you come across smiles and says hello,” Janet continued. “It makes me feel secure and taken care of. The team is here to keep us safe.”

Janet continues with bridge and gardening, and has added an exercise program, shuffleboard, travel and volunteering on property at the Wise Buys resale shop to her regular weekly routines.

“It was a transition to go from a large home of 50 years with a large garden to my apartment, but it was the best transition,” she shared. “The residents are now like another family and that kind of feeling, that feeling of connection, makes all the difference.”
