EverTrue Home Help – Care Comes Full Circle
Before joining the EverTrue Home Help team, Dia Finder was a caregiver for her mother. In the final season of her mom’s life, the EverTrue Good Neighbor program stepped in to help and for Dia, that meant everything.
For four hours each week, a caregiver prepared meals, did laundry and helped around the home, freeing Dia to focus on spending meaningful time with her mom.
“The caregivers were all lovely – every single person who came. The communication I received and the level of empathy we experienced were life changing,” said Dia. “They gave us the ability to breathe.”
After her mother passed in October 2024, Dia entered retirement carrying both grief and a lifetime of professional experience as a dietitian. She considered returning to her field but was ready for something different and meaningful.
That’s when she thought of EverTrue Home Help. She joined as a caregiver in October 2025.
“This program was so great for us,” she says. “Now as a caregiver, I can help another family. I can give them what was so meaningful for me. It’s so much more of a relationship than a job.”
Dia supports one client, Jean. During their four hours together each week, Dia stays busy: cleaning, doing laundry, running errands and making sure her client feels cared for and seen. Beyond the tasks – and the occasional fast food treat – Dia brings consistency, patience and empathy, skills she learned caring for her mother, who lived with dementia.
“I’ve learned to listen and do things their way,” she says. “Even if I might do it differently, it’s about what makes them feel comfortable.”
For Dia, this work is also healing. In caring for someone who reminds her of her mom, she’s found a way to process her grief while giving back. She and her client even talk about her mother.
“She told me once, ‘I think I would have really liked your mom.’ That meant everything.”
Through the EverTrue Good Neighbor program, Dia has come full circle – receiving care when she needed it most and now offering it to others.
