If you love the hands-on experience of cooking, you could dive into our dining career path starting from a Cook, advancing to a Sous Chef and eventually becoming a Chef!
If you prefer a leadership role in Culinary Services, you could begin as a Dining Server, climb the ladder to a Supervisor and oversee operations as a Dining Manager!
Ian Howell, a Chef at an EverTrue community for several years, is a great example of how you can grow here. Since joining as a pantry cook in 2004, he has moved from prepping salads, to line cook, to Sous Chef, to his current role of Chef.
He never expected to become a Chef, though he has a lifelong love of food. “My first job was putting together office cubicles,” he recalls. But soon, the kitchen called. “Then I slid into cooking. It’s been my passion ever since,” explains Howell.

“My favorite thing is the smiles on residents’ faces,” says Howell, as he reflects on his almost two decades with EverTrue. He is proud of providing the restaurant-level quality that residents have come to expect. He has become an expert on their favorite foods like ribs, fried chicken, and salmon.
