Advancing Caregiving Through AI: A Human-Centered Approach
EverTrue and Daugherty Enterprises have partnered to launch the EverTrue Better Path AI platform, an innovative, immersive training tool.
Built from EverTrue’s clinical expertise and Daugherty’s technology capabilities, the platform serves as a rehearsal space for caregiving where communication, empathy and timing can be practiced, helping caregivers build confidence before they step into real-world situations.
“Going through the AI training with Daughtery Enterprise truly opened my eyes to what it must feel like to live with Alzheimer’s – understanding how my words are received by someone living with the disease,” said Lauren Jones, Administrator of Care Center and Assisted Living, EverTrue Mason Pointe.
The platform’s development process reflects a human-centered focus thanks to feedback and support from EverTrue. EverTrue invited the Daugherty technology team to spend time observing daily life within EverTrue memory support neighborhoods, which provided an opportunity for engineers to understand the subtle and complex interactions between caregivers and residents.
The program works through AI-driven avatars representing various stages of dementia. Caregivers engage in responsive scenarios that mirror real conversations with each interaction providing immediate feedback, guiding users to adjust tone, pace and language and providing a “score.”
“The real-time feedback was incredibly powerful. It helped me recognize how my tone, word choice and even the speed at which I speak can either create comfort or cause confusion. This experience has already changed the way I communicate — making me more intentional, more patient and more aware of how meaningful small adjustments can be,” said Lauren.
The platform is guided by the EverTrue StillYou® philosophy and the CARES model, reinforcing the importance of personal history and emotional needs in every resident interaction.
The accessibility and flexibility of the platform also supports scalability. With hundreds of caregivers already trained and plans to expand further, this approach enables ongoing learning rather than one-time instruction. It also opens the door for future use by families, extending its impact beyond professional settings.
“This is not simply a new tool. It represents a shift in how AI can be used to enhance human connection, raising the standard of memory support one interaction at a time,” said Rachel Little, Vice President of Health and Wellbeing and one of the leaders spearheading the program. “EverTrue is proving that technology, when guided by purpose, can deepen the human side of care.”
